Common questions
How rough are plate estimates?
They're rough. They use typical values from Australian food data (FSANZ) and the portions you pick. Oil, sauces and portion size change the numbers a lot. A photo can't show what went into a dish, so ask how it was made.
A food was flagged, or nothing was. What does that mean?
A flag lists foods you added that are usually made with an allergen on that person's list, like cheddar cheese for milk. No flag only means none of the foods you added are usually made with those allergens. A photo can't show what went into a dish, so ask how it was made and read any label.
How does it know a plate from a label?
It reads the photo on your phone. Label headings like "Ingredients" mean a label; food with little text means a plate. If it isn't sure it asks, and every result has a one-tap switch.
It said "Couldn't read this label clearly"
NibbleMate only answers when it can read the whole ingredient list and the "Contains" line. Get them flat, well lit and in frame, then snap again. You can always check the label by hand.
It found nothing on a label. What does that mean?
Only that none of the allergens on that person's list were found in the text it could read. Labels can be wrong, change, or be misread. Read the label yourself, including any "may contain" wording, which NibbleMate shows word for word.

NibbleMate is not a medical device. It reads label text and can miss things or misread them. Always read the label yourself and follow your doctor or allergist’s advice.
