The short version

What stays on your phone

The names, allergen lists and settings you add. Photos are read on the phone by Apple's Vision framework (image classification for plates, text recognition for labels), so the photo and what is read from it are not uploaded. Deleting the app, or using Settings › Remove all data, removes your profiles and settings.

What leaves your phone, and only if you choose

Waitlist emails

We only email you about the beta and the launch. Every email says who it is from and has an unsubscribe link, and you can write to us any time to be taken off the list. We act on removal requests within 5 working days.

Statistics and this website

Apple may show us standard, anonymous App Store statistics (like download counts). We add no analytics of our own.

This website sets no cookies. If you pick light or dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser, on your device only. Netlify, our host, keeps ordinary server logs of visits.

Children

Parents and carers often make profiles for children. Those profiles stay on the phone; we don't collect information about children.

Questions, access and complaints

Email support@nibblemate.app to see, correct or delete the address we hold. If you write to us, we keep your message and address to reply. Beyond that, the waitlist email is all we hold about you.

If you aren't happy with our reply, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

NibbleMate is not a medical device. It reads label text and can miss things or misread them. Always read the label yourself and follow your doctor or allergist’s advice.
